ABOUT
PUSS ‘N’ POOCH GALLERY
Puss
‘n’ Pooch Gallery is the initiative/brainstorm of
its proprietor, Jenny Gibson, and rises from her love of animals
in general and cats in particular. As a cat owner, Jenny noted
some years ago that it was most difficult, if not impossible,
to purchase good quality cat–related giftware and collectibles.
As
a consequence, in 1994, believing there was a market for such
products, Jenny with the help of her husband Peter took the
bit between her teeth and opened the Puss ‘n’ Pooch
Gallery in Darling St, Balmain (Sydney, Australia) specialising
in cat and dog paraphernalia – hence the name. It was
felt at the time that there would be a market for dog items,
however, time showed that this was not to be so as most dog
owners wanted any figurine to be an exact replica of their dog
i.e. a Dalmatian ornament was required to have all spots in
exactly the same positions as their own dog. Consequently dog
items have been gradually phased out with a few minor exceptions.
Dog lovers will be catered to via links to other sites that
provide a large range of specific breed products.
In
2000, increasing overheads associated with the shop resulted
in its closure and Puss ‘n’ Pooch now operates at
most CFA cat shows held in Sydney and specific country locations,
the Sydney Royal Easter Show (located in the Cat Pavilion,)
and a number of markets and street fairs conducted around Sydney.
Whilst
the majority of Puss ‘n’ Pooch’s products
is related to cats, experience over the years has shown there
is a bond between cat and horse people, hence a number of horse
ornaments will become available along with some frogs, which
always seem to be an item of interest to collectors.
Puss
‘n’ Pooch Gallery’s aim has and always will
be to provide Cat lovers with a quality product. |
